Monday, November 11th
Remembrance Day
11am parade to the Cenotaph at Spirit Square for the laying of the wreaths.

Tuesday, November 12th 
  • Artisans Christmas Market continues at the Public Art Gallery, open Monday to Saturday (10am-5pm) until December 24th. Browse through a gorgeous boutique-style market to find that special gift. 
  • BC Hydro Interpretive Centre Official Opening at the John Hart Generating Station. The centre features wall panels four feet high and of various lengths that illustrate the past, present and future of the John Hart hydroelectric facilities and property.
  • The Campbell River Festival of Film continues with “The Angel’s Share” at 7pm. Narrowly avoiding jail, new dad Robbie vows to run over a new leaf. A visit to a whisky distillery inspires him and his mates to seek a way out of their hopeless lives. Tickets are $14 available at the Tidemark Theatre.
  • This holiday season you can help women in Campbell River who have accessed shelter services in the past year, one small gift at a time: visit www.shoeboxproject.com to learn more; drop off your box to any one of three locations between November 12th and December 13th.
  • Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes are now available from the Discovery Church, the Willow Point dollar store, Thomas Cook the Travel Place on Shoppers Row, the Baptist Church, Christian Life Fellowship church, Vineyard Christian Fellowship church, Ocean Crest Salvation Army church and Periscope Promotions in Willow Point. Finished boxes can be dropped off at the Discovery Church Collection Centre between Tuesday, November 19th and Sunday November 24th. Wednesday, November 13th  
  • The Art Gallery is offering an introductory workshop into the diverse world of papermaking for anyone age 13 and up. The classes will take place from 3:30pm-5:30pm on the 13th & 20th with local artist Nicola Cooper. Through demos and practice, participants will learn everything from preparing coloured pulp to molding and embossing. Students will also explore the practical uses of paper in collage, art cards and three-dimensional design. The cost is $45/$55; call 250-338-5371 for more information.
  • To honour Multiculturalism Week, the Immigrant Welcome Centre is hosting an International Potluck Celebration with art, cultural music, dancing and food. This year the celebration will take place at Robron Centre gym. The event is free and open to the public; doors open at 5:30pm and the potluck starts at 6pm. No registration is required.   • Steve Patterson (of CBC’s ‘The Debaters’) plays the Tidemark Theatre at 7:30pm, tickets are $42 and available online or at the box office.   • Homeshare providers welcome an individual into their home, providing them with living space, a regular structured routine and support in daily life skills. Communitas Supportive Care Society is having an Information Session to talk about with is involved with being a Homeshare provider for adults who have developmental disabilities: 4pm-6pm at 1250-D Cedar Street (across from the Rosebowl).   • Antics Theatre returns with Fawlty Towers “Basil the Rat” dinner theatre. Catered by Fusilli Grill, the show will run Wednesday-Saturday (13th, 14th, 15th, and 16th) at the Willow Point Hall. Tickets are $40, available from the Flower Shop in Willow Point.
  • Learn versatile beading stitch at the Art Gallery: fans of beaded jewelry will not want to miss Barbara Goertz evening workshop at the Campbell River Art Gallery. Thursday, November 14th  
  • Delhi 2 Dublin at the Tidemark Theatre, 7:30pm. The new sound of music: blending east and west, electronic and acoustic, mainstream and underground, the five member D2D crew takes listeners on a wild and borderless trip with their global sounds.
  • Come and talk to your community wellness team at Strathcona Gardens from 10am-1:30pm and celebrate World Diabetes Day. Foot care, eye care, stress management, healthy snacks, exercise tips and more! There will also be coffee, snacks, door prizes, free gifts at presentations and a table for crafts. Bring your questions and feel free to stop by. There will be staff from the Integrated Health Network and Diabetes Education on hand to answer your questions.   

Friday, November 15th  
  • CR Christmas Studio Tour: a self-guided tour of home-based businesses and their studios. Friday from 10am-8pm, Saturday from 9am-7pm, and Sunday from 9am-5pm make your way around Campbell River and if you visit 10 of 12 locations, you can be entered to win a big prize! Stay tuned for a map and description of studios and their locations to be published in the paper.
  • Lazer tag on Ice, Extreme Skate - an evening of ice cold fun! For grades 3 to 5; the fee includes lazer tag gear, ice skate/ice cleat rentals, snacks and other fun challenges while you wait your turn. $13 / 6pm-8pm at Strathcona Gardens.
  • Quadra Christmas Craft Fair at the Community Centre: Friday 4pm-9pm & Saturday 10am-3pm – Santa will visit on Saturday at 12pm.
  • Cross-Canada Speaker’s Tour on Genetically Engineered Foods and Human Health will take place at NIC/Timberline Theatre (1685 South Dogwood) at 7pm. This will be an opportunity for the public to discuss their concerns regarding GE foods; featuring a presentation by Dr. Thierry Vrain, a retired soil biologist and genetic engineer who after a 30-year career now speaks against GE technology. Doors will open at 6:30, admission is by donation (but no one will be turn away) and refreshments will be provided by Healthyway. For more information contact Karen Baily at Karen.baily@sd72.bc.ca


Saturday, November 16th 
  • Super Saturday at the Public Art Gallery: Silly Sea Sculptures. Use found objects to build up a structure then trace the pattern created by the shadow onto your page. See what wild and crazy shapes emerge, then colour them in using felt markers and pencil crayons! All materials provided, free admission, artists of all ages (children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult), 1pm-3pm.
  • Fling on your poodle skirts and squeeze into your old black leather jackets and get down to the Tidemark Theatre for 7pm for the Altrusa Club’s third annual movie event: “Grease” the iconic musical from 1978 which gave us “Summer Nights”, “You’re the One that I Want”, and so much more! Tickets are $20; costumes are encouraged but not mandatory.
  • The Grammy-nominated, percussion-driven vocal ensemble from Berkeley will be shakin’ a tail feather at the Quadra Island Community Centre at 8pm. The Linda Tillery Cultural Heritage Choir is a dynamic, five-part a cappella group who create exciting rhythms and audience-engaging energy through stick, song, dance and story.   • CR Judo Club’s Third Annual Christmas Craft Fair is on – Saturday & Sunday, 10am to 4pm at their facility at 450B Merecroft Street. This event showcases 40 unique and talented artists and artisans who will be present their art work and mixed media. Browse the exceptionally hand-made gift items, everything from pottery to jams, soap to hooked rugs, and jewelry to smoked salmon. Admission is free, face-painting for the kids, ample parking and wheelchair accessibility.
  • Free Community Meal @ 2215 CR road (Vineyard Church, near Haig-brown house) doors at 4pm, dinner served at 4:30pm includes roast beast, Yorkshire pudding, veggies, and dessert!   
  • Discover Old Time Gospel Singing at the Discovery Community Church (250 – 10th Ave) at 7pm – all are welcome!

Sunday, November 17th
  • Chasing Cinderella Tour with Justine Collins at Serious Coffee, 6pm-8pm. Sharing music from her album along with many originals and popular pop/country cover songs.
